We propose to deepen the concept of Contemporary Tradition applied in public space. Therefore, we will concentrate on media art and public art. We believe that it is important to introduce theoretically a bit some contemporary artists who work with site-specific video installations and in public art. The final event should be a site-specific installation made by the participants. 

Nat Wilms (b. 1976 in Halle (Saale)/Germany) is a freelance artist with
a degree in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts
Bologna/Italy. She graduated with her thesis about Circular and Linear Time in Visualand Cultural Anthropology in 2006. Both during and after her academic formation she took part in video classes at the University of Art in Berlin and has participated in numerous interdisciplinary workshops. The furniture of Hillsideout incorporates her poetic narration through the us of light, writing, photography and video of landscape elements in searchof tracks of memory and stories from the past.


Andrea Zambelli (b. 1978 in Bologna/Italy) is a professional restorer
of furniture with more than 15 years working experience in Bologna dealing  with wealthy family heritages between the beginning of the 17th century and mid 20th century. He believes in a possible re‐interpretation of his profession caused by a personal need to preserve ancient skills of application, which are slowly disappearing. Therefore, the insertion of innovative materials through an application of antique manufacture skills
is based on the antique furniture tradition but renews it at the
same time.


Hillsideout is an Italian‐German collaboration of Andrea Zambelli
and Nat Wilms. Together they founded the design project Hillsideout [antique art design] in 2009, which combines the antique restoration techniques with contemporary mediums. The name Hillsideout is a linguistic game related to their visionof furnishings that finds its inspiration in an external element

 from the land by bringing it «out» into interiors.
